Due Diligence on Pre-IPO Funding of an Insurer

Hedge Funds often take calculated risks by investing in companies prior to their going public. Jeremy and his partner produced a report that both explained the market and how much this particular target was worth.

As the Hedge Fund did not know the insurance business, part of the report was geared to get them sufficient understanding of the market to allow them to make their bid.

Jeremy was hired to review the actuarial aspects of the target insurer. The process entailed a review of the company’s practices and procedures, as well as performing an actuarial appraisal. In addition to preparing a report on the company’s value, Jeremy presented several other ways to view the company. Each of these alternatives were geared to better resonate with the hedge fund managers.

Combining an oral presentation and a written report provide the hedge fund with the information needed to make their bid.
